Development of a High Load B2B Portal from Scratch
Client
LAPP Russia is the representative office of the international holding LAPP Group in Russia. It is a major manufacturer and supplier of cable and wire products. The company's catalog includes about 40 thousand items, and its factories and production centers are located all around the world.
Objective
The customer's objective was a B2B portal development and its integration with PIM, SAP ERP, delivery services. One of the most essential tasks was to work out a simple, intuitive way of order placement.
Solution
- Creating a B2B portal on Magento 2.3.3 + Vue Storefront.
- Integration with SAP ERP.
- Integration with Akeneo PIM .
- Integration with delivery services.
- Creating a uniform website design.
B2B Portal Development
The portal for LAPP was our first B2B project developed on Magento 2 and Vue Storefront.
Akeneo PIM Integration
The customer wanted to implement a local solution for product data management. Moreover, SAP integration with EPIM had already been configured, but access to the product data storage was restricted. We came up with a solution that allowed us to integrate Akeneo PIM, SAP and the B2B portal, based on partial data unloading from this storage.
Also, we implemented the transition from EPIM to Akeneo PIM, which allowed downloading, editing and synchronizing data from ERP systems and sending up-to-date information to the sales channel.
SAP ERP Integration
As a part of the project, we implemented the integration with SAP ERP, which helped facilitate the processes of document management and price updating.
Integration with Delivery Services
Integration with the DPD and Business Lines delivery services was implemented.
What makes this project different from other B2B portals is that an operator can order product delivery by a transport company right in the personal account.
The process is completely performed in Magento, there is no need to go to the transport company's website.
This allowed us to fully automate the process of sending orders, calculations of the cost and time of delivery, and order status tracking.
Creating a Uniform Design
OPPORTUNITIES
The key is the way the information is presented. Visually structured content and graphic accents help direct a user's attention.
