Pimcore — single source of truth for products and digital information
Pimcore unites PIM, MDM and DAM in one platform: instead of dozens of exports from 1C, ERP and Excel, a single source of truth pushes product records to the website, marketplaces and B2B portal with no manual transfer.
Supports modeled attributes with inheritance, plus data quality and semantics control.

PIM / MDM / DAM
Product data has a single source of truth
PIM/MDM/DAM speeds up SKU launch and improves data quality: 1C/ERP stay as the accounting system, PIM becomes the managed content layer, and DATAREON moves data without point-to-point links.
Pimcore
Open-source PIM/MDM/DAM without vendor lock-in, with attribute models, DAM, and API channels.
Akeneo
PIM for managing attributes, completeness, workflow, and publishing product cards to channels.
DATAREON
A data bus connects 1C/ERP/PIM/website/marketplaces through a single exchange contract.

What you can do with Pimcore
Capabilities
Pimcore capabilities
Single source of truth for products and entities
Data from 1C, ERP, suppliers and Excel converges into one model — the end of discrepancies where the website, marketplaces and B2B portal show the customer different prices and specifications.
Attribute modeling with inheritance
45+ field types and variant inheritance: shared properties are set once at the family level instead of being duplicated across every SKU — cheaper catalog upkeep with no desync.
Built-in data quality management (DQM)
Rules, required fields and a real-time completeness report flag which cards can't be published — fewer returns from poor descriptions (source of 34% of returns) and complaints.
DAM: media and content management
Previews for 200+ formats including 3D/AR, with photos and videos tied to products — marketing and sales pull current creative from one place, no folders on drives.
MDM: master data beyond products
Counterparties, suppliers, locations and customers are maintained on the same platform — one reference-data model instead of duplicates in every system.
Omnichannel publishing via REST/GraphQL
Headless data delivery to the website, marketplaces, mobile app, POS and print — a new channel connects fast and content stays consistent everywhere.
Workflows and a role model down to the field level
Approval, statuses and access rights down to a single attribute — content managers, translators and procurement work in parallel without the risk of overwriting each other's data.
Open-source with no vendor lock-in
The source is open and there are no core licensing fees — the solution is transferable and moves easily between teams and contractors, removing single-vendor lock-in.
Catalog scale of tens of thousands of SKUs
The platform holds tens of thousands of items and millions of data objects (PMG — 41,000+ SKUs) — assortment growth isn't capped by Excel and manual work.
Turnkey Pimcore implementation
KT.Team deploys the right loop from a single platform — PIM, MDM, DAM, PLM or DXP — to the client's task, not a scattered toolkit: data model, import, publishing and handoff in one project.
Support and evolution of existing Pimcore
We take over existing installations for support: audits, upgrades, new channels and attributes, tech debt elimination — active Pimcore systems evolve without downtime or rebuilding from scratch.
Integration into the enterprise landscape (1C, ESB, marketplaces, OMS)
Pimcore integrates into a loosely coupled flow: master data from 1C, exchange via ESB (WSO2, Talend), publishing to Ozon and Wildberries and linkage with OMS — product data flows between systems without manual transfer.
POCL migration and license audit
We manage POCL licensing branches (CE, Professional, Enterprise), self-host and product-key registration, and plan upgrades from legacy versions 6–11 — transitions are transparent in cost and risk, no production surprises.
Honest choice: Pimcore, Akeneo or Brandquad
KT.Team has deployed all three platforms and selects solutions by business levers, not lock-in: where Pimcore's full breadth is needed, where PIM-only Akeneo suffices, or where SaaS Brandquad gets you in faster.
PLM and DXP on the same platform
Product lifecycle and digital customer experience are managed in the same Pimcore as product data — no separate stack needed, unified model from product development to storefront.
AI-powered product content enrichment
KT.Team agents and models populate attributes, generate channel-specific descriptions, tag and validate product cards directly in the data stream — catalogs of tens of thousands of SKUs are enriched without manual review.
Approach
How we implement Pimcore
Without modifying the core
We don't fork or patch the Pimcore core. Pimcore stays on the standard upgradable version — business logic moves into separate microservices alongside it, so platform updates don't break your customizations.
International Standards, Not Homegrown Hacks
Where a mature international solution exists, we use it instead of inventing our own protocol or platform. Before writing code, we study how the problem is already solved in the industry.
Transferability
The solution is loosely coupled and documented: it can be handed over between teams and contractors without rewriting. You are not tied to us.
AI compatibility
Pimcore in the AI loop
Pimcore Copilot — generative AI inside the platform
A built-in Copilot generates channel-specific descriptions, optimizes visuals and assists with data profiling — the content manager clears the routine of filling product cards many times faster.
Connecting any LLM and ML models
Open architecture lets you connect OpenAI, Google, Hugging Face or train your own model — product enrichment and classification for the business's needs, not the vendor's.
OpenAI-compatible Chat Completions API
Since version 2025.3 the Copilot runs over an OpenAI-compatible interface — you can plug in your own or a local LLM endpoint, important for environments with data restrictions.
KT.Team AI agents on top of PIM
KT.Team builds ai-native scenarios: agents fill in attributes, label and validate data, and serve catalog users — a minimal-people model for product operations.
AI quality control and deduplication
Models detect incomplete, conflicting and duplicate records in the data flow — catalog quality rises without manually auditing thousands of cards.
Context 2026
What changed in the market
License switched to POCL (2025.1)
From version 2024.4 (the last GPLv3 release), the former Community Edition moved to Pimcore Open Core License (POCL) in Platform Version 2025.1: per Pimcore's announcement, the code is source-available — you can view, modify and use it, but not freely distribute or relicense as GPLv3 allowed. This doesn't make the platform unlawful, but changes the licensing model.
Free CE is not for everyone
Under POCL terms, free Community Edition is available at annual revenues below €5M and outside production scale; at €5M+ revenues or industrial use, a commercial license (Professional or Enterprise) is required. CE/EE licensing should be calculated before launch, not after.
Mandatory product-key from version 12
Platform 2025.1 introduced mandatory product-key registration: version 12+ won't run without it. Many CIS installations run on Pimcore 6–11 — they need a deliberate upgrade plan and license audit, not spontaneous updates.
Deep Pimcore expertise in CIS is rare
The product data market in CIS is growing under pressure from marketplaces and data quality requirements, but teams with publicly verified, deep named Pimcore portfolios are scarce. This makes a contractor with real case studies and experience taking over existing installations all the more valuable.
Western SaaS-PIM solutions are unavailable for new RF projects
Western cloud PIM solutions (inRiver, Salsify, cloud Akeneo and Pimcore) are unavailable for new CIS projects; self-hosted Pimcore and Akeneo remain deployable. The choice is yours — keep an existing installation running or deliberately switch platforms.
Pimcore is broader than PIM-only tools
Pimcore combines PIM, MDM, DAM, DXP and PLM in one product (PHP/Symfony) — more powerful and flexible than PIM-only Akeneo or SaaS Brandquad, but requires the highest integrator qualification among PIM platforms.
Honestly
Pros and cons
Pros
- The most powerful and flexible product data platform: PIM, MDM, DAM, DXP and PLM in one product, self-hosted with full data control — broader than PIM-only Akeneo and Brandquad.
- Open-source roots and portability: solutions move between teams and contractors without vendor lock-in (CE — source-available under POCL).
- One of CIS's deepest named Pimcore/PIM portfolios at KT.Team: Muztorg, RAEC, Relief-Center, Lenta, Fix Price, Sberbank City and others — 19 Pimcore projects.
- Official Pimcore partner through 2023: expertise built from inside the partner program, ahead of most CIS integrators.
- KT.Team owns the entire enterprise loop: Pimcore is loosely coupled with 1C, ESB and marketplaces (Ozon, Wildberries) — integration depth that's rare in the market.
- Vendor-neutral: KT.Team has implemented Pimcore, Akeneo, and Brandquad, recommending or migrating objectively based on requirements, not vendor lock-in.
Cons
- Pimcore requires high integrator qualification: the broadest platform means the highest entry bar — without a strong team, risk accumulates.
- POCL license and product-key: from 2025.1, free CE is available only at revenues below €5M and outside production; industrial scale requires a commercial license, and version 12+ requires key registration; a license audit is necessary.
- If the goal is just a clean PIM with a quick start, Akeneo (simpler as PIM-only) or SaaS Brandquad (faster to deploy, in the CIS software registry) deserve serious consideration; we choose by business levers, not lock-in.
- Deep Pimcore expertise in CIS is scarce — which makes a team with a proven named portfolio and experience taking over existing installations all the more valuable.
